I've had a very rough Christmas Eve morning. I know I shouldn't complain because a lot of other people have it a lot worse than I do, but I'm about to go crazy.
First, I woke up at 7:00 am on my day off.
Then the dog needed outside. So I took him out the back door and hooked him up to his runner so he could play while I went inside and started downloading iTunes for my new iPad. Yeah, I got an iPad from Dad and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. However, I do not like Apple...especially their support system.
Back to that in a minute. So, I walk back up the porch stairs to go back inside and immediately realize that the door is frozen shut. Ice had leaked onto the screen door handle and was not budging.
I knew that the front door was locked, but I had a spare key hidden. So I dug through 6-7 inches of snow and found the rock I had hidden the key under. I unlocked the door only to realize that the chain was latched, too.
And they make these so that strangers can't just reach in and unlock them.
So there I was standing with my arm in the door pulling at this chain that was not budging in the freezing cold and snow...in my pajamas.
I was able to reach my keys on the stand next to the door. I walked around back and tried to chisel away the ice from the door with my car key. The only thing I was doing was giving my fingers frost bite.
So back around to the front door I went. I started yanking on the chain again and realized that it was nailed into the door frame.
Of course, the door frame had to come off.
I pried the door frame away from the wall only using a Toyota car key. Then I was able to squeeze in and under the chain. As soon as I took my shoes off, the dog was ready to come back inside.
Once in the warm house I unlocked all of the doors just in case it should happen again and then proceeded to set up my iPad. Every time I tried to enter a method of payment for the iTunes store it would tell me to contact support. I entered 3 different cards. It did it every time.
Then I had the enjoyment of spending an hour on the phone with some dude that barely spoke English and could not figure out what was going wrong. I still haven't been able to play with my iPad.
But it is Christmas Eve and I'm determined to have a good one. Boyfriend, Bowen, and I say Merry Christmas everyone.

The day is bound to get better.
Regarding the iPad, that is unfortunate. I do not have one but I do have an iPhone but have yet to run into a problem purchasing items. Maybe their server is overloaded. Give it a day and try again tomorrow although it is pretty hard to have a new toy and not try it out.
Merry Christmas!!!
That is an awfully crappy start to the day, but it can only get better :)
SO lucky you got an IPAD!!!
What a horrible start to the morning but hopefully its getting better as the day goes on.
What a not-good start to the day :( Hope it gets better for you!
Wow you have had the best morning so far!! Hope your day gets better quick! Love the picture. It's adorable.
Merry Christmas JM and to your family too.
Merry Christmas JM, have a great time :)
Seems like it was a tough beginning...but I'm sure you're goin to have fun...so on that note, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family... :)
Wow Nice gift from Dad, I knew he was a good guy, maybe the support was just overloaded being it's Christmas and everything.
A Pry Bar left near your hidden key may be a good suggestion to help you get inside should this ever happen again and it also works on unhelpful support teams too :^)
Merry Christmas Tress
Merry Christmas! :-)
So far my Christmas eve has been alright, granted it's only noon and people are barley starting to wake up. I'm sorry that happened to you and another reason why I stick to my Zune. I love my Zune even with the periodic song multiplication.

I really, really hate the outsourced to overseas "support". It's a complete joke and never helps. Maybe try an iPad forum? You're probably not the only one having problems.

That does not sound fun! But it is totally out of my realm of experience - yesterday was 30 degrees celsius in Australia and it NEVER snows where I live - the coldest would be minus 5 degrees celsius over night in the middle of winter! So...I have no experience with breaking into frozen doorways! I have however broken into my parents' house through their doggy door - which does not bode well for them being robbed any time soon - the doggie door is plenty big enough to fit an average human through!!!
It sounds like you are in dire need of a hot chocolate w/ peppermint schnapps. :-)
hugs and i'll be sending chocolate
Finally, I have an excuse to rail on apple and mac. I am of the firm belief that Steve Jobs (CEO Apple) is an evil, evil man. At one of my previous jobs, I helped install music programs into mac's and I also repaired them. I cannot tell you how messed up customer service is over there. I own no mac/apple and I will fight till the end of time to not allow Jobs to see a penny from me. This of course, is a personal bias but I can't help it, Jobs makes average gizmos and charges mondo premiums. If you want to hate apple too, don't fret, there is an app for that.
That is a pretty rough Christmas Eve. Sounds like something that would happen to me. But I hope it gets better and I'm totally jealous of your iPad ownership. Also, your doggie is adorable.
Merry Christmas!!!
Can only get better darln. Can't wait until I get my ipad at the end of january.
Wishing you and your little family a very lovely christmas.
Big Hugs & Smooches xxx
