5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Winter Edition

Snow-By now, most of you should know that I hate snow. But it’s beautiful, you might say. Yeah, it’s beautiful the first time, second time and even the third time you ever see it. After that, it’s just a huge pain in the ass. Especially when I have to drive in it. And shovel a walkway to my car. And have wet feet everyday because dress shoes (which I have to wear to work) are never insulated.

Illness- It never fails. This is the time of year when I get so sick that I feel like I’m going to die. Whether it is the common cold, the flu, strep throat, bronchitis, or even the stomach flu, I’m down for the count.

The Cold- For the past week it hasn’t been over 20 degrees Fahrenheit here. It is freakin’ cold. My body aches from shivering so much. Not to mention the ice that forms EVERYWHERE due to the below freezing temperatures. I haven’t fallen yet (knock on wood) but I’m sure it’s coming.

Drivers- Everyone in West Virginia should be fully aware that we get snow. Most of the time, a lot of snow. But what you think would be common knowledge, obviously isn’t. Even a light dusting of snow sends everyone into a panic and they drive like idiots.

Fuel Costs- My furnace requires fuel to run. For 100 gallons we had to fork over nearly $400. Chances are we are going to have to get more before winter is over.

Happy Friday everyone!

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Shopping Edition

'Tis the season to be shopping! Since some people are already getting into the holiday spirit and started their shopping already, I thought I'd bring to you the reasons why I usually shop online!
Other Shoppers- I don't care where you go, others shoppers suck. They are in the way. They stop in the middle of the isles to browse instead of scooting over so people can get around them. Their children hide in the clothes racks and scare the shit out of you. The dressing rooms are always full. And if you're anything like me, you wanna get what you need and get the hell out. Other shoppers slow you down.

Check Out Lines- Why, oh why, do stores have 50 registers but only open 5 of them? Especially during the holidays?!? And the people that go through the express lanes that have way more than 25 items. That is absolutely infuriating.  Even the clothing stores usually only have 2 registers running and that really blows when you are just trying to buy the $10.00 scarf you are hoping will suffice as a gift for your aunt.

Poor Customer Service- Because I could go on for days about this, just please refer to this post.

Noisy Shopping Carts- I am one of those people who absolutely cannot pick out a shopping cart without some kind a defect. Sure, the ones that pull to the side are a nuisance. Or the ones that seem to have their brakes on. Or the wobbly ones that make you look drunk while you are pushing them. But the worst ones are the squeaky carts that everyone turns to look at when you come down the isle.

Out of Stock- Ok, so you've got your entire list done and that one thing that you really really really want is completely out of freakin' stock! I tried for three months to buy a black comforter at Wal Mart. They kept saying they were out of stock. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and a couple of other places and NO ONE had a black comforter. Seriously? It's not like I was asking for a comforter with turtles that had wings plastered on it and a nice rainbow back drop. I just wanted black. I ended up ordering the damn thing online. Also, I can never ever find the shoes that I want in my size. I normally settle for shoes that I really don't even like. My size must be popular or I just have shitty luck.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Customer Service Edition

This edition of 5 Things That Drive Me Crazy is a little different, because well, it's about people and not things. Because the same general concept applies. Here we go :)

Those Who Think It's Satisfying to Report Others- Ok, if I get really shitty customer service, I'm going to tell a manager... at least. But that's if the person providing customer "service" is not even trying. But I cannot stand it when people report people in customer service just to have something to do. For instance, our new mail lady (have no clue if that's actually considered customer service, but it's what prompted the topic today so deal with it:)) that delivers mail to my work talks on her cell phone. A lot. And she doesn't dress very nice. But who the Hell cares? Well, apparently a co-worker of mine. She called and reported the mail lady and the mail lady was either fired or moved to a different route because she delivers no more. I think it's complete bullshit that someone would go and mess with someone else's livelihood just because the mail lady likes to talk on her cell phone and wears jeans everyday to work. She delivered the mail every day. She was nice when she actually talked. WTF is the problem?? Now her kids are probably gonna starve. And they'll have to kill their own dog for meat to stay alive. Just saying.

Those Who Treat Customer Service Reps Like Shit- So you walk into a store, grab the usual cup of coffee, giant cookie and pack of cigarettes gum (dammit) and get in line behind some lady. This lady starts bitching at the dude/chick behind the counter because the price of gas is so ridiculous. First of all, does anyone actually think the damn cashier can change that? Or that its their fault? Second, what right does anyone have to come into someone's work and start yelling at them like they are a waste of space? Especially at 7:00 am. Assholes.

Or the customers in restaurants who thrive on giving the waitresses/waiters a hard time just for the sake of looking cool in front of their friends. They should all be put on house arrest and never allowed in public again.

And this...you'll never believe. Boyfriend works in a video game store. Two customers came in and were looking at buying a Play Station 3. Well apparently, they didn't like the prices of the game systems so one of them decided to whip out his tiny manhood and piss all over the damn things. A grown ass man, and I use the term loosely, decided that since he couldn't afford to buy the PS3, he would just piss on them so that no one else could buy them either. WTF is wrong with people?

Those Who Hate Being in Customer Service- On the other hand, I absolutely hate it when I go somewhere and the person behind the counter treats me like a waste of space. Doesn't even acknowledge me, let alone treat me well. I have to get their attention just so that I can give them my money and get the Hell out of there. And then they act like I'm bothering them by coming in??? Seriously, if you hate customer service, find a new job. (Any DMV employees in my area reading this? I'm so talking about you.)

Those Who Mess Up Because They Don't Care- I understand mistakes. Everyone makes them. I'm sure you can find at least one in this very post. It doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when I'm trying to buy my stupid bookshelf-in-a-box at Wal Mart and the cashier is talking to the cute boy behind her register whilst taking my money and giving me back the incorrect change. And then when I ask for the rest of my money, she acts like I'm being just down right contrary.

Those Who Act as if Your Money Doesn't Matter- Much like Those Who Hate Being in Customer service, except this person just doesn't want to help you actually buy something. For example, you go into an Apple store with a few hundred bucks in your pocket and know exactly what you want. All you have to do is get someone to help you get that IPad your heart desires, but no one will take the time out of their busy socializing to help you.

Or being a young female like myself, I know from experience that I cannot get a damn car salesman to come out and help me. But as soon as I have someone older, especially male, they are like flies on shit.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Living in a College Town Edition

While watching my hometown college team play football last night, I realized exactly what I needed to do for my 5 Things That Drive Me Crazy list.

Traffic- My boss actually let everyone leave early yesterday so that we could actually get home and avoid the game day traffic. I literally live 2 minutes away from the stadium, and no matter what time the game is, you cannot avoid traffic on game day. If the game is at 7:00 p.m., they start tailgating at 7:00 a.m. So on game days, its pretty much a known fact that you are stuck in the house unless you are attending. Not to mention that they actually reroute traffic everywhere and make it convenient for the people going to the stadium. The people just trying to get to the grocery store? Yeah, no such luck. Pizza places even refuse to deliver on games days.

Out of Towners- It's not that I hate people from other states/countries. I just hate that they don't know where they are going and slow down traffic impossibly more.

Extra Cops- Because of all the traffic and the thousands and thousands of students who pile into our small town every year, cops are plentiful. DUI checkpoints are set up all the time, which is awesome because I'm completely against DUI, but when you are just trying to get home from work, being stopped at a check point sucks!

Expensive Booze- College students drink. A lot. Our bar and club owners are very aware of that fact. If you go downtown, you can easily spend $6 on a beer. If you go five minutes out of city limits, you can get a beer for $2.50. Only problem is...the bars and clubs downtown are so much better.

Noise- On game days, I can hear the stadium noises. Crowds cheering, occasional fireworks, the announcers on the loud speaker, the music. It's kinda cool, unless you are trying to sleep, then its just annoying.

Thankfully, beginning Saturday, Boyfriend and I will be living in a very quiet neighborhood, 20 miles away from the stadium. I bet I'll enjoy game days a lot more.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Bar Edition

This one is for you BFF!!

Sloppy drunks spilling beer- It's one thing if you bump into someone and their beer accidentally goes flying down the front of your shirt. It's a whole different story if some idiot is jumping around and acting like a fool and continues to spill his beer...over and over again.

Last Call- Really? Don't make me stop drinking. Please Mr. Bartender. It's just starting to get fun.

Skank Fights- Why oh why do skanky girls insist on picking fights with the girls that aren't regulars? Like they hold it against us because we actually showered that day and got dressed up to go out. It's not my fault that they are bar rats and have sweat pants on.

Old Perverts- I, as much as the next girl, like a guy with confidence. But it is not in the least bit flattering when a man old enough to be your grandfather hits on you.

Techno Music- should have never been invented. I hate walking into a bar and they start playing techno music. You can't dance do it. You can't sing along. Well, at least I can't. Please...just stop the torture.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Roommate Edition

This is a little late...but I've been busy. Apartment hunting mostly, which is what inspired this post. I also wanted to dedicate this to Molly who is searching for a roommate.

1. Leaving laundry in the washer and dryer- I wash clothes once a week. Mostly because that's all I have time for. Every single time in the two years that I have lived in my apartment, the washer and dryer are full when I go to start my laundry. Which means, I have to do someone else's laundry just to get to mine. It has been discussed many, many times and it never changes.

2. Parking- Parking is limited at my apartment. Therefore, when my roommates have guests over, my parking spot usually gets taken. I am the last one to arrive home from work in the evenings and I usually have to park across the street. Then I have to carry everything I have across heavy traffic. It truly sucks.

3. Unknown guests- I just L-O-V-E it when I'm sitting in my pajamas and stuffing my face with some cookies and a random stranger walks in. Like come on....how hard is it to let me know when we are having company?

4.Other people's undies- I have three roommates. It was just two until about a month or so ago, but now there are four people living in my apartment and Boyfriend is here all the time. So basically 5 and one dog. It is totally gross and embarrassing when I walk into the bathroom and find a pair of panties or boxers laying on the floor. Especially when I have a guest over. I'm sure boyfriend really loves seeing a pair of boxers that aren't his on my bathroom floor. (I was going to name this category 'Other People's Personal Items,' but when I find an empty condom wrapper or something, it doesn't make me angry, it turns me into a private investigator. I just have to know who it belonged to and who was getting freaky in my house.)

5. Privacy- Four people under one roof does not equal privacy. The only reason this one is pretty low on my list is because I'm not really a private person. I walk through the apartment in just a towel and I'll tell just about anyone about my personal life. But it is pretty annoying when we have to vote about what to watch on TV. Or we have to ask everyone if they need in the bathroom before we go take a shower. It would be so nice just to walk into the bathroom and take a nice long hot bath without anyone pounding on the door because they have to pee.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy- Work Place Edition

Animosity- There is nothing worse than going to work every morning and feeling like the person down the hall hates your guts. And its usually because they think they are better than you. I just wanna smack them and be like, "You know what? You aren't better than me so now would be a good time to get over it."

Slobs- We have a cleaning crew at my office and I get absolutely embarrassed sometimes when they walk through the door in the evenings. I work in a male dominate office (not sexist...true) and they cannot pick up after themselves. I would hate to be any of their wives.

Incompetent Bosses- My boss cannot mail a letter by himself. No kidding. And he makes 4 times my salary. He also asks me to do really preposterous things like, "sign my name to this letter." and "can you find me a blue pen?" Because honestly...he can't do it himself. Not to mention when I ask him a real work related question, he tells me to ask someone else.

Lazy Co-Workers- Not to be confused with slobs. These are the people who slack off all day when you are busting your ass. Even if it doesn't effect your work....it's aggravating as Hell.

Hand Me Downs- This is when people higher up than you pass their work onto you just because they can. As if you are just sitting around waiting on them to give you work because your life depends on it. It's really infuriating when they act like you should be happy about it.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy-Traffic Edition

I'm trying to do the 5 Things That Drive Me Crazy posts every Friday...but this week...you are getting in early. Why you may ask?

BECAUSE I'M GOING CAMPING. Again! I am leaving for the airport soon to pick up Boyfriend and then we are spending the entire weekend camping. No work until Tuesday!

I will miss you all this weekend. Have a super fabulous awesomely fantastic Labor Day!

1. Not using turn signals- How hard is it to let traffic know which way you are going? Get rear-ended once and I bet you it will fix that problem.

2. Cell Phone Users- Ok, I have been known to use my cell phone while driving...pretty much every day, but I have been given the gift of multi-tasking. If you cannot drive and talk on your phone, HANG IT UP.

3. Parking on the street- Where I live there are a lot of residential side streets that I can take to work that cuts like 10 minutes off of my commute. However, there is this one truck that parks on the street every day and it completely holds up traffic. Every morning, I have to pull behind it because other cars are coming and there isn't room for the three of us.

4. Tailgating- You should have left sooner if you were in the big of a hurry.

5. Yellow light brakers- I just hate it when someone slams on their brakes as soon as a traffic light turns yellow. You have like 5 seconds to get through the yellow light...there is no need to panic.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Facebook Edition

1. Reading status updates from friends that are on vacation while I'm stuck in the office- There is nothing worse than when I'm sitting at work and seeing that one of my friends is laying on the beach.

2. Layout changes every 5 freaking days- As soon as I get use to Facebook, they go and change it again. And WTF is with the new location thing? That's just asking for someone to stalk you.

3.Facebook Arguments- I absolutely cannot stand it when people get into fights over Facebook. Especially when they keep writing back and forth on each other's walls and your entire home page is filled with their crap. Seriously...grow some balls and fight in person like the good ol' days.

4. Farmville- The requests. The notifications. They are everywhere.

5. Pokes- Go poke your damn self.

5 Things That Drive Me Crazy: Celebrity Edition

Lady Gaga- Seriously? Do I need to even explain? Lady Gaga drives me crazy for the simple reason that she is overplayed! I absolutely cannot stand Bad Romance and it seems to follow me everywhere. It's even my roommate's ringtone...which she knows I hate.

Kanye West- Can we say asshole? This guy is un-freaking-believable. And the whole Taylor Swift fiasco at the VMA's only added to my hate.

Megan Fox- Yet another mean celebrity. I don't hate her because she is the sexiest woman alive, I hate her because she is a egotistical biatch. Yeah, I said it. I mean she compared Michael Bay to Hitler.

Eddie Murphy- He just annoys me. Always has. His voice. His facial expressions. His laugh. Can't stand him.

Paris Hilton- She is famous for having sex on camera. She is overrated and she is dumb. Enough said.
