What a day.
Of course, most of you have probably heard about the death of Osama Bin Laden. If not, just go to yahoo.com and its all.over.the.place.
I never really thought about what would happen after he died, let alone if he died from a Navy Seal's bullet, but I never expected this.
Yeah, that is my town. I expected it in NYC, but here? Not so much.
So about an hour into work this morning, everyone gathered in the kitchen talking about Bin Laden, we get an announcement to meet in the conference room.
We sit down, our boss walks in and says, "We have been bought out. Blah Coal Company will take over in 45 days."
Wow.
In 45 days....I may not have a job. BUT I'm keeping an open mind and hoping that it will be a good thing. The take over will make us the second largest coal producer in the country. Hopefully that's good enough to keep our jobs.
We'll see.

Oh dear! I hope that you have job security!!
Fingers crossed your job wll be safe.
Big hugs
Yeah Morgantown. I think I told you once my Dad was born and raised in Fairmont. Still have family there. I'm so hopeful for your job. Hearing those words can be so unsettling. And they keep you in limbo about it. So I'm finger, toe and eye crossing for you! Hugs sweetie.
I will keep you in my thoughts-I hope that your job will be safe! I couldn't stop watching the news last night. Here in PA I am close enough to get to NY or Washington but neither on a Sunday night at 10:30...so I stayed inside instead...but the scenes outside the White House and ground zero were amazing!
My uncle went to school there. I love that area. And where I am from is just a couple of hours north of there.
Yeah, I'm glad Bin Ladin is gone, but now he's a martyr, and there are others still willing to fight for his "cause". One down, thousands to go. Ouch. That sounds pretty bad, doesn't it?
Anyway, best of luck on your company's buyout. I'm sending good job karma your way!
I am from Long Island outside NYC and the streets were crowded with people cheering after Bin Laden's death. I wanted to go join the fun in ground zero but I had class this morning and couldn't. But that looks like one great scene :D
I really hope you get to keep your job, fingers will be crossed for you <3
fingers crossed for your job, I am sure it will work out ok :)
fingers crossed that job works out
Thank you all so very much. With this many fingers crossed, surely everything will be A-OK!
Hey, they've got to keep you on. You're probably their number 1 employee!! Hope it all works out well for you.
Sending scads of good job-keeping mojo.
Oh Morgantown, just far enough away from the burgh. That was an amazing sight!
Good luck about your job, hopefully it'll end up being a really good thing.
Buy outs are scary, but usually only higher management feel the burn. Once, they were so inclined to keep the staff from leaving, they gave us all raises! Let's hope for that, shall we? :-)
Thinking of you and wishing you luck, lady <3
I don't know of any craziness that broke out in KC because I was in St Louis at the time. However, I do know the VFW was giving out free shots.
Buy-outs can be so unsettling but here is to the change working out in your favor.
I loved the shots of people screaming the national anthem in DC.
I'm so sorry about the news you heard about your job. I hope hope hope you're safe!!
Thank you so much everyone! Your thoughts are very much appreciated. I will keep you posted!
I hope you still have your job it is a terrible thing not knowing what will happen and sometimes the waiting is just so frustrating.........
