Notice of Absence

At 8:30 this morning, I lost a wonderful woman in my life. I lost someone to look up to, someone to laugh with, someone to talk to. I lost a woman that would sit in the kitchen and tell me about all the stuff she used to get into when she was younger and then scold me for doing the same things. This morning, I lost my grandmother.

Last year she was diagnosed with skin cancer. She beat the cancer, but her health went down hill from there. She hadn't been able to get out of bed for a few weeks. This morning she took her last breath and left this world for another, better place.

I probably won't be blogging much the rest of the week. I will try to log in tomorrow to change the poll and the Giggle Button, but that's it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I lived with my grams when I was 18-24 years old, and she was my whole world. She also had skin cancer and passed away just over 5 years ago. We had a lot of happy, healthy years up until the last one. I wish you and your family all the peace and comfort possible. I'm not religious, but I carry my grams with me and feel like she's watching over me. Maybe your grams and mine are hanging out somewhere beautiful. There's probably bingo and margaritas. Possibly a hair salon and chain smoking. All I know is I still miss her every day, and everything I am, every happiness I receive, is because of her. I always told myself that if losing her didn't hurt so much, then it would mean I didn't love her as much as I did. I don't know if that makes sense or sounds strange, but that thought has helped me a lot through the grief.

Aw, sweetie. I'm so sorry. My grandmother died on Monday. It's so hard to remember to feel grateful that they were able to escape the suffering when you just feel sad that they're gone. I'll be thinking of you during this time of mourning.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandmother passed away 2 days before Christmas almost 2 years ago. It was a very hard time for me. At least you know she went to a better place.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother. No one can ever replace a grandmother. It sounds like she had a long life, but it's never long enough for those of us left behind. Grandparents are often considered a stable, dependable part of our lives, and it doesn't seem possible that they will ever be gone. Then, we have to find a new stable place, and possibly redefine it as well. Best wishes to you and yours. Oh, and don't post until you feel like it. Your family is the most important thing!
