Giggle, Wiggle and Jiggle

I have a story to share before we get into Giggle, Wiggle, and Jiggle. After reading Steph's blog and some others, I wanted to share with you my tale of learning that Santa wasn't real.

Once upon a time, when I was a young child around the age of eight, I heard a clatter in the kitchen.

I went out to investigate, thinking that maybe I would get to see Santa once and for all.

There, standing in the kitchen was my oldest step brother (about 13 at the time)  with Santa's cookies in his mouth and Santa's milk in his hand. And under the tree were presents that hadn't been there when I'd gone to sleep.

Me: What are you doing?

Brother: Ugh, Santa forgot to eat them.

Me:  Santa never forgets his cookies.

Brother: He, ugh, the reindeer, they... {he pauses and tries to think of something clever. then his face lights up because he's come up with something good.} He doesn't exist.

Me: Who doesn't?

Brother: Santa. The Easter Bunny. The Tooth Fairy. None of them.

Me: And how do you know?

Brother: Because, I'm older and all the older kids know these things.

Me: Did Mom tell you?

Brother: No, my dad did.

Me: Why didn't they tell me?

Brother: Because you are still a baby.

Me: I am not.

Then I proceeded to kick him, take his cookies and go back to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I was furious at my mom for not telling me the truth. Not so much that Santa wasn't real, but because I wasn't let in on the secret. My step brother got in sooooo much trouble.

When did you stop believing in Santa? Do you remember what happened?

Now, getting back to business. Can I change the rules to the award I created? Of course I can. It's my award.

Rules

1. Thank the person that gave you the award
2. Tell a funny story to accept the award...or at least a joke.
3. Only pass onto ONE other blogger.
4. Now stand up and do a happy dance.

So today instead of just doing a recommendation, I am going to give my award out. I have so many blogs in mind that I want to pass this along to, but since I've made the rule of only giving it to one person, I have chosen....

Talkative Taurus

If you haven't already, go check her out. She makes me laugh with her stories and even her comments crack me up.

Now, for the first time in a long time, I am choosing the Giggle Button occupant. Go check it out!

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. I cannot believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve! I'm having Christmas at Dad's tonight and I CANNOT wait.

One perk of not having siblings: they didn't ruin my illusions of fictional holiday characters. I figured that one out on my own ;)

Tress, you are a warrior poet, err, thanks for the "giggle". Your whole family rocks the burbs, Ben Folds style.

I don't remember when I stopped believing in Santa (yeah, it's been that long). Seems to me that one year Santa was real and the next, I was putting my own gifts under the tree.

Oh well, Merry Christmas to you and yours!

the well fed spirit

Huh??? What do you mean Santa isn't real? Next you will be telling me when I grow up I won't be able to be a Christmas fairy :) Have a fantastic Christmas and enjoy all your celebrations (oh and presents).

Santa is real, though. Whenever the spirit of giving is strong, then we do the jolly old elf's work. See, he's real as a concept, not as a fat dude specializing in firelight B&E. :)

See, that's why I didn't tell my story because I didn't want to ruin anyone's Christmas who still believed! Way to go, JM! :) I told about when some kids I knew tried to say there was no Santa, and what we did to them instead.

Oh. My. God! I love the award! Thank you so much. I have gotten so much love from blogging friends and new followers lately. This is a fantastic Christmas present!

At 13 he should have known better but then again he didn't really care... boo

I can't remember how old I was but I had chicken pox, I was so disappointed to be stuck at home when Santa came and my brothers had the greatest presents. When I went back after the holidays all the children were talking about there not being any Santa at all... I could have cried but didn't. After that the years were spent trying to find out who was playing santa at school, I hated it but I still love Christmas time despite not celebrating it.

That awards such a lovely idea :)

If Santa's not real...who left all this crap in my living room...should I call the cops...is there a brain dead thief that breaks in and leaves things instead of taking them...gotta go, I need to buy new dead bolt locks!!!

Well said Danger Boy!

Holly believed there was a Santa right up until January this year, 3 months before her 16th birthday!!!

Don't ask me how I managed to keep it going so long but I think the fact that we both have such vivid imaginations helped, big time.

I am so glad though cos it helped keep it magical :)

Being from another culture, I never believed in Santa. Sad, yes, but it kept my parents from having to explain alot of things and buying presents.

Enjoy your holiday.

Mean older brothers.

I was nine, if I remember correctly, and it was my older cousins who broke the news. Tragic.

I don't remember when I stopped believing in Santa, so it must not have been shock to me. But oh, your brother was mean to tell you this way. And all that for a couple of cookies:P

I honestly don't remember when I stopped believing but yes older siblings do ruin that for us younger ones.

At 9 I still believed. At 10 I heard some talk about it at school and started thinking about it. When Christmas came I just knew it was my Mom who did all that so I played dumb and afterwards told her. Didn't want to upset her for all work she did.

Too funny! I think you read my story last week on Wee Bits, about me just figuring it out. I'm shocked my brother never told me, he was the typical older brother torturing the younger sister.

I am so behind on blog reading!!! I blame the cookies.

Tress, What do you mean Santa is not real, I am not sure I am buying this, I know you are trying to be funny but you are scaring me now saying such things, I will have to google this but you know how that goes I just may end up looking at vacation packages in Santa Fe, wonder if Santa Fe is real?

Don't you hate what the older brothers do, thats a lot for me to say since I am the older brother and little Sis reminds me of this all the time :)

Enjoy Christmas with Dad, I know you will have a blast.
